One Man Dead After Early Morning Fight

Roberto Valdez was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Banner University Medical Center.

TUCSON, AZ — A 36-year-old man is dead in an early morning homicide, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.

Police found Roberto Valdez suffering from "obvious sharp force trauma" around 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 2400 block of North Edith Boulevard, police said.

Medics took Valdez to Banner University Medical Center, where he quickly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police say they believe that Valdez was involved in a physical fight with an unnamed suspect. They do not think that the slaying was random.
