Opa! Tucson’s Greek Festival Brings Authentic Food, Drink, Dance

TUCSON, AZ – Opa! The 45th annual Tucson Greek Festival is slated to once again reinvigorate the city's enthusiasm for the Greek culture via authentic Greek entrees, pastries, beverages and dance performances. Full-scale carnival rides and local artisan vendors will also be at the festival for the first time, the Tucson Chamber reported. The Sept. 26-29 festival's highlights will additionally include a live Greek band, DJ and family-friendly activities.

The Tucson Greek Festival's cuisine will include spanakopita, gyros, souvlaki sandwiches, an Athenian chicken dinner, Greek salad, dolmathes, or a roast leg of lamb dinner. Sides include a meze or appetizer plate, baklava, tzatziki, pita bread and more. Assorted beer and wine will also be served.

General admission is $3 for the Tucson Greek Festival, held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 1145 E. Fort Lowell Road. Seniors, military, first responders and children age 12 and younger get in free. On Thursday, students with ID get in free, too. Festival hours are Thursday 5 to 10 p.m., Friday 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday 4 to 11 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
