TUCSON, AZ — Pima Animal Care Center's ability to track lost pets in Southern Arizona received a boost from national pet store chain, Petco.

That's because Petco Love, which is the chain's philanthropic arm, awarded PACC with a $225,000 Lifesaving Investment grant to bolster its lost and found efforts.

The grant will allow the center to increase its efforts to match up lost and found reports, as well as supply drives and microchip clinics, the center said.

“The goal is to not only continue, but also expand PACC’s lifesaving work,” said Monica Dangler, Interim Director of Animal Services in a statement. “COVID has thrown us all for a loop and it’s more important than ever to be able to continue saving lives through our adoptions, pet reunification, and outreach programming and community support.”

The center has a nine-person staff dedicated to finding homes for more than 7,500 animals each year, with three of those positions funded directly by grants.

“Our adoptions team is critical to our lifesaving efforts,” Harris said in a statement. “This investment grant will help us continue serving our community and providing homes for the pets.”
