Pima County Community Resource Fair Set For March 5 In Tucson

Pima County will offer guidance on things like job training, preschools, and utility and rental assistance.

TUCSON, AZ — Pima County residents who could use help with things like job training, finding a good preschool or utility and rental assistance can get hooked up with resources at the county's upcoming resource fair.

The county's Community and Workforce Development Department is hosting the fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 5 at Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St in Tucson. The fair is free and open to everyone.

People from county departments, including the health department, community assistance, youth programs, veterans programs, the county attorney's office and the public library will be present to give advice on how to access their services, according to a news release from the county.

In addition, around 25 local nonprofits and community organizations will be on hand, including the YWCA of Southern Arizona, Child & Family Resources, the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, La Frontera and the University of Arizona.

“We will have something for everyone at the resource fair. Families are welcome,” Jennifer Eckstrom, Pima County’s community and faith-based coordinator, said in the news release. “We know that COVID has created a lot of need in the community. We hope that by bringing all these community partners together that we are helping bridge a gap.”

In addition to information about resources, there will also be games for kids, raffles and giveaways, in addition to free COVID-19 vaccines and light snacks.
“The Pima County One-Stop is hosting this resource fair because sometimes the 8 to 5 work hours aren’t accessible for everyone,” said Eckstrom, who helped organize the event. “By holding this event on the weekend, we are able to help more people. If someone has a problem or needs something, we probably have an answer.”

Those who attend the fair are encouraged to follow COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing a mask and socially distancing when possible.
