Pima County Getting 3 New Coronavirus Testing Sites

TUCSON, AZ — Pima County will see the opening of three new drive-thru coronavirus testing sites in the coming weeks as the number of new cases continues to climb.

The new sites are the result of a partnership between the Pima County Health Department, Pima Community College and Arizona State University. The sites will be conducting spit sample tests, instead of the typical nasal coronavirus tests.

“As cases rise, we are eager to increase available testing for the people of Pima County,” Dr. Theresa Cullen, director of the Pima County Health Department, said in a statement. “If you know or suspect you have been exposed to COVID-19, we encourage you to get tested.”

The first of the three opened Monday at Pima Community College's West Campus on 2202 W. Anklam Road. That will only be open on Mondays from 9 a.m. to noon, except for national holidays.

A testing site will open at Pima Community College's Desert Vista Campus on Dec. 2, followed by a site at Pima Community College's East Campus on Dec. 4. Those will only be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, respectively.
