Police Shooting In Midtown Tucson Leaves 1 Seriously Injured
A police shooting occurred Monday near North Alvernon Way and East Fort Lowell Road. Here's what we know.

TUCSON, AZ — A police shooting on Monday morning near the Rillito River left one person seriously injured, Tucson Police said.
The shooting, which happened just before 8:30 a.m. near North Alvernon Way and the Rillito River, left a man with serious injuries, police said.
Police responded to the area and encountered 37-year-old James Nicholas Pacheco, who was wanted in connection with a kidnapping and sexual assault that police said occurred on April 9.

Police said Pacheco charged at an officer with two bayonets brandished at the responding officer, who then fired his weapon.
The Tucson police officer involved in the shooting was identified on Tuesday morning by the department as six-year veteran officer, Daniel Garcia.

Pacheco was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
