Sessions Vows All Illegal Border Crossers Will Face Prosecution

Jeff Sessions appeared in Arizona – and later traveled to San Diego – to vow that all illegal border crossers will face prosecution.

TUCSON, AZ – Attorney General Jeff Sessions traveled to Arizona Monday to announce a tough new measure for people who cross the border illegally. All will face the possibility of prosecution.

"W are dealing with a massive influx of illegal aliens across our Southwest Border," he said. " In April we saw triple the number from last April.

"We're not going to stand for this."

Sessions then said that the Justice Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security on a new initiative. (Get Tucson Patch's daily newsletter and real-time news alerts. Or, find your local Patch here and subscribe).

"One hundred percent of illegal Southwest Border crossings" will be referred to prosecution, he said. "The Department of Justice will take up as many of those cases as humanly possible until we get to 100 percent.

"If you cross this border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you. It’s that simple."

Sessions said that to make that happen, he has sent an additional 35 prosecutors to the Southwest.
