Person Accused Of Making Threats Detained At Broadway & Columbus
The area was evacuated after a person accused of stealing a car made threats, according to police. People should still avoid the area.
TUCSON, AZ — A person accused of making threats that prompted an evacuation of the area near the intersection of Broadway and Columbus boulevards in Tucson was detained Wednesday evening, according to Tucson police. No one was injured, police said.
The Tucson Police explosive ordnance disposal team, SWAT and hostage negotiators were on scene Wednesday afternoon after a person suspected of stealing a car made threats, according to Tucson police.
The entire area was evacuated following the unspecified threats, a police spokesman said, and police continued to advise that people avoid the area during their Wednesday evening commutes.

Officers encountered the person accused of making threats around 2 p.m. Wednesday when they found a stolen vehicle near the intersection, police said.
