Tucson Police Open Homicide Investigation After Wed. Morning Shooting
The shooting happened in the 100 block of E. Prince Road near multiple schools, though police said there was no threat to the public.

TUCSON, AZ — The Tucson Police Department said it has opened up a homicide investigation into the death of an adult male, who was found suffering from gunshot wounds Wednesday morning in the 100 block of E. Prince Road.
The TPD said there was no threat to the public.
The crime scene was located near Prince Elementary School, 125 E Prince Rd., Amphi Middle School, 315 E Prince Rd #315, and the Amphitheater Public Schools Rillito Center administration building, 266 E Pastime Rd.

District spokesperson Michelle Valenzuela told Patch that no lockdowns or emergency procedures were necessary, but parents were informed about the shooting.
The TPD said it received a call about a shooting just before 6 a.m. Officers from the department's Operation Divisions West responded to the scene, where they found the victim with obvious signs of trauma, according to the department.

No other details about the victim or possible suspects have been released by the TPD.
During the TPD's investigation into the homicide, officers closed E. Prince Road in both directions from Stone Ave.
The road closure did impact some student drop-off procedures, according to Valenzuela, but the school drop-offs ultimately were handled smoothly.
The school district sent a message to the Amphi Middle School community at 7:15 a.m.:
Good morning Amphi Middle School Families:
We want to let you know that Prince Road is closed this morning, and there is a police presence near our campus.
Our schools are safe, and the police activity has nothing to do with our campus.
We do need to change drop off for our students. Please drop your children off at the East parking lot or at the Pastime gate.
Again, our school are safe and operating normally.
The district then sent a message to Prince Elementary families at 7:30 a.m.:
Dear Prince Elementary Families:
We want to let you know that there is a police presence near our campus this morning.
Our school is safe and operating normally. The police activity has nothing to do with our campus.
Again, we are all safe here at school and are having class as scheduled.
The TPD said it would provide additional details about the shooting as they become available.
