Tucson Bicyclist Hit, Killed While Riding On the Sidewalk: Police

The bicyclist was riding on the sidewalk Tuesday afternoon when police said a Jeep veered off the road and hit the cyclist.

TUCSON, AZ — A bicyclist who was riding on the sidewalk along Rita Road Tuesday afternoon was killed when a Jeep veered off of Rita Road and hit him, according to police.

The bicyclist, Daniel Paul Lecroy, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the Jeep, a 22-year-old man who police have not publicly identified, was take to to Joseph’s Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

Witnesses told police that the Jeep was driving recklessly before the collision, according to police. Police suspect that the Jeep's driver was impaired at the time of the crash, police said.
