TUCSON, AZ — It's that time of year once again when Tucson residents come together to celebrate the city's anniversary, Pima County reports. This time it's anniversary number 244, and Presidio San Agustin del Tucson will host the city's official celebratory fiesta, including tacos and cake, Aug. 20 at 196 N. Court Ave. in downtown Tucson. The festivities begin at 4:45 p.m. and include entertainment by Danzacultura Folklorico, Los Changuitos Feos de Tucson Mariachis and Gertie and the T.O. Boys. Reenactors and historical exhibits will also be featured. Richard Elias, Board of Supervisors Chairman, and other local leaders will address fiestagoers. Food includes refreshments for sale and an El Charro's Cafe taco bar and happy hour, in addition to free birthday cake courtesy of Long Realty. Local organizations will have community information and activity tables set up. The event is presented by the Presideo San Agustin del Tucson and the Tucson/Pima County Historic Commission.
