Tucson Fire Department Called To Extinguish Fire Near Cody Street
The Tucson Fire Department received a call Sunday to extinguish a utility room fire impinging on the attached apartment complex.

TUCSON, AZ — About 6 p.m. Sunday, the Tucson Fire Department arrived on the scene of a utility room fire in the area of 3400 E. Cody Street. The utility room, attached to a two-level apartment complex, had flames reaching higher than 14 feet and rising, according to several callers’ reports.
A Tucson Fire Department unit arrived at the fire in five minutes and observed that the fire was impinging on the apartment complex’s structure. A TFD engine company immediately put a hose on the fire while paramedics looked for residents inside the apartments. Meanwhile, a TFD ladder company went to the roof to determine if the attic space was on fire too, and to secure the building’s utilities. The fire was extinguished in 16 minutes, with nine Tucson fire units attending to it.
No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. The Red Cross is helping one displaced apartment tenant.

Fire investigators are still attempting to pinpoint the fire’s cause and origin. An estimate of the monetary damages is forthcoming.
