UPDATE: Barksdale Fugitives Captured, Marshals Give Details
Tucson murder suspect escapees Susan and Blane Barksdale were taken into custody Wednesday night, ending a 2 1/2 week manhunt. Here's how.

ARIZONA – The two-and-a-half-week manhunt for Tucson murder suspect escapees Susan Barksdale and Blane Barksdale ended with their Wednesday night capture, the U.S. Marshals Service reported. At a press conference in Phoenix Thursday morning, the U.S. Marshals gave more details on the Barksdales' arrest.
According to reporting from Fox 10 in Phoenix, U.S. Marshals received a tip yesterday that Blane Barksdale and Susan Barksdale were at a residence in Punkin Center, Ariz., about 90 miles northeast of Phoenix, near Roosevelt Lake. U.S. Marshals and about 50 law enforcement officers surrounded the house. First to step out of the house was the homeowner, a friend of the Barksdales with a past including drug convictions, federal officials told KOLD. A crying Susan Barksdale was next to come outside, followed by Blane Barksdale about 10 minutes later.
A U.S. Marshals spokesperson previously told ABC 15 in Phoenix that authorities had to use physical force to arrest Blane Barksdale. A witness to the arrest also told ABC 15 that Blane came out of the house using profanity, yelling at and flipping off authorities. Those reports were verified by the U.S. Marshals at the press conference Thursday morning:

"[Blane] initially was responding to commands to keep his hands up and to get down. But after a couple of minutes, he became very verbally abusive to officers, flipping them the bird, not responding to other commands. And the deputy marshals at the scene had to use a taser and what we call a 'big bang' round in the leg to take him down to affect his arrest," said a U.S. Marshal. No weapons were found on the Barksdales nor in the home.
Blane Barksdale and Susan Barksdale are now in the Florence, Ariz. prison. They will be transported separately to a federal courthouse for a hearing later today. Then they will be remanded into a Pima County jail on the original charges relating to the April Tucson murder of 72-year-old Frank Bligh, reported Fox 10. Bligh was a Vietnam veteran and an old friend of Susan's.

The Barksdales were arrested in May in Henrietta, New York for Bligh's murder and escaped custody near Blanding, Utah on Aug. 26 during extradition to Pima County. They overpowered the transport guards after Susan faked a medical emergency. After tying up the guards with shoelaces and putting them in the prisoner compartment of the van, the Barksdales then drove the transport van and a friend’s borrowed red GMC Sierra pickup truck about 40 miles. The couple ditched the van near St. John’s, Ariz., and left together in the pickup. They have been on the run ever since. Until last night.
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office assisted in finding the Barksdales and taking them into custody, USA Today reported.
