Tucson High Magnet School And Carillo K-5 Earn MSA Certification
TUSD's Tucson High Magnet School and Carillo K-5 Magnet School recently earned Magnet Schools of America (MSA) national certification.

TUCSON, AZ — TUSD’s Carillo K-5 Magnet School and Tucson High Magnet School were recently awarded Magnet School of America (MSA) national certification. The certification was granted after the National Institute for Magnet School Leadership thoroughly evaluated the two schools.
The MSA oversees theme-based and magnet schools, and the national certification process is based on the National Magnet School Standards of Excellence and the five magnet school pillars: diversity, high-quality instructional systems, academic excellence, innovative curriculum and professional development, and family and community partnerships
Both educational institutions’ offerings are designed to “prepare [students] for a bright future” and “to provide students with life-changing opportunities in the classroom and beyond,” according to a TUSD news release. The national certification programs also promote equity and choice.

“We owe this recognition to our outstanding teachers, students, and of course the hard work from our dedicated Magnet Team who engaged in this arduous process. This recognition is a true testament that THMS [is] a great place to be where you can learn, thrive and shine in anything you want to do,” concluded THMS Principal Shawna Rodriguez.
