Tucson PD Has Identified Teen Who Was Reported Dead On Wednesday

A 15-year-old male found dead Wednesday morning near Campbell and Drexel was today identified by TPD as Erik Isaac Nanez.

TUCSON – Around 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, Tucson Operations Division South police responded to a call reporting a dead male on the ground in the Campbell and Drexel area, at the intersection of S. Avenida Selva Del Ocote and E. Calle Joya de Ventura. Officers found the teen, today identified as 15-year-old Erik Isaac Nanez, with “gunshot trauma” and dead on scene, according to police reports.

TPD Homicide Unit detectives will continue investigating. While many details remain unknown right now, neighbors told police that gunshots were fired Tuesday evening, the night before Nanez was found dead, and that they saw several vehicles and individuals leaving the area immediately following the gunshots. However, no one called 911 Tuesday evening.

Detectives continue to investigate and are also asking anyone who knows anything about the incident to call 88-CRIME. Callers can stay anonymous.
