Tucson Pedestrian Struck By SUV Dies
Police said the driver of the SUV was not under the influence at the time of the crash.
TUCSON, AZ — One pedestrian died Saturday in Tucson after being struck by a SUV in the 1500 block of East Benson Highway.
According to a statement from police, officers from the Operations Division South were sent to the scene of the crash after someone reported a serious injury in the aftermath of a crash.
When responders arrived, police said, the adult male pedestrian was treated by Tucson Fire and transported to Banner University Medical Center. He died from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police said an investigation found the driver of a Nissan Juke was pulling out of the residential complex at 1551 East benson Highway. As the driver made a right turn, the Juke struck a pedestrian walking in the bike lane on the north side of Benson Highway.
The driver of the juke stopped and cooperated with police. A DUI officer found the driver was not under the influence at the time of the crash.

According to police, the woman driving the Juke didn't see the pedestrian until the collision happened. Authorities said speed was not a factor in the crash.
Police withheld the identities of the driver and pedestrian.
To date, 14 traffic fatalities have occurred in Tucson. Of those, six were pedestrians, three were on motorcycles and five were in vehicles.
