Child, 9, Killed In Tucson Hit-And-Run: Police

The Tucson Police Department is searching for a BMW SUV after a child was killed and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run.

TUCSON, AZ — One child is dead and another was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Tucson on Wednesday.

The Tucson Police Department is investigating the crash, in which the two children were hit while walking along Broadway Boulevard with their mother. The street was closed along Sarnoff Drive and MacGuire Avenue immediately following the collision. The 9-year-old was killed while his 10-year-old older brother was seriously injured but is expected to survive.

"The family started crossing the street when the light indicated they could cross," Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus said in a statement on Twitter. "The two boys were crossing in front of their mother when a light-colored BMW SUV failed to stop and struck both boys."

Magnus said the BMW fled without stopping and witnesses spotted two people in the car.

Police are now searching for the BMW, which was described as having a fuchsia blanket in the backseat and an Arizona license plate starting with the letter 'B.' The car will likely have a damaged front grille due to the crash.
