Tucson Police Fatally Shoot Armed Teen

Tucson police shot and killed an armed 17-year-old as they moved to arrest him for multiple felonies.

TUCSON, AZ — The Tucson Police Department is investigating after officers fatally shot an armed teenager Wednesday as they moved to arrest him for several felony crimes.

The incident occurred on the 1200 block of West Calle Ranchi Rio in Tucson. The 17-year-old suspect was wanted in connection with armed robberies, the department said on Twitter.

"Ofcs approached an armed robbery susp who produced a firearm," read a tweet from Tucson police spokesperson Sgt. Pete Dugan. "A TPD Ofc fired his handgun & the susp was shot/pronounced deceased on scene."

Another shooting involving Tucson police officers took place just four days ago on the city's south side after the suspect fired a gun at officers. That suspect was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

According to Dugan, no officers were injured on Wednesday and Tucson police detectives are investigating.
