Tucson Police Investigating Apparent Homicide In Midtown

Police said the 34-year-old man was found dead in his apartment with 'obvious signs of trauma.'

TUCSON, AZ — Police in Tucson are investigating what they believe is a homicide after a man was man found with obvious signs trauma in his Midtown apartment on Tuesday.

In a news release, police said officers were called around 5 p.m. to perform a welfare check at an apartment complex located at 3003 N. Alveron Way.

When police arrived, they met with the person who made the report. She said she had gone to the apartment of 34-year-old Angel Essono to check on him after not hearing from him a while, and he failed to answer the door.

Police entered the apartment and found Anel Essono dead with obvious signs of trauma, according to the release. The man's death is being investigated as a homicide by the Aggravated Assault Unit and Homicide Unit, police said.

No other details were immediately available. Anyone with information about the man's death is asked to call 88-CRIME. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
