Tucson Police Investigating Woman's Reported Kidnapping

The woman was taken from a gas station and held in a house in Mescal before escaping.

TUCSON, AZ — Tucson and Cochise County officials are investigating after a woman said she had been kidnapped and held in an unknown location. The woman escaped and was able to alert the authorities.

Cochise County Sheriff's Office personnel were called to a home in Mescal, just south of Tucson, on Wednesday morning. A 27-year-old woman was covered in cuts and bruises and appeared to be wearing very little clothing when the authorities arrived. She also appeared confused, according to the police.

The woman said she had been getting gas at a station near Grand Road in Tucson late Tuesday evening when she was approached by two men. The woman said she doesn't remember anything after that, until she woke up in a strange Mescal home.

She was eventually able to escape the house and call 911 at a neighbor's house. She informed police of the house's location and was transported to a local hospital shortly after. A search warrant was subsequently issued for the house and evidence was collected; it was also collected at the gas station.

An alert was issued for the woman's missing car as well. The ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly by the Tucson Police Department and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
