Tucson Police Officer Being Investigated For Off-Duty Incident
The officer is accused of attempting to restrain two people at a local restaurant.

TUCSON, AZ — A Tucson Police officer is under investigation for attempting to restrain two people at a restaurant while he was off duty, according to Tucson police.
Police say that on Nov. 14, the officer was involved in some sort of physical encounter with several people at a local restaurant. The officer ultimately took two of the people to the ground and attempted to restrain them, according to police. Police did not release the identity of the officer.
The altercation is under administrative review by Tucson police, and the Pima County Attorney's Office will decide if any charges should be filed, Tucson police said in a news release.

A cell phone video of the altercation has been circulating online. Tucson police claim the video only shows a portion of what happened.
“I appreciate that the video of this incident raises concerns, but it is important that we adhere to the legal requirement of due process and allow both the criminal and administrative investigations to be completed before determinations are made and further steps taken,” Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus said in the news release. “The department holds its members to high standards both on and off duty, and we will review this matter in light of those standards.”
