Tucson’s New Holiday: Mini Time Machine Museum Of Miniatures Day
The Pima County Board of Supervisors today designated Sept. 1 as a new holiday for Tucson: Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures Day.
TUCSON, AZ — September 1 will have a new ring to it, for Tucson and Pima County residents anyway. The Pima County Board of Supervisors today approved a measure designating that date as the new “Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures Day.” A mini version and a full-sized version of the Board’s proclamation were presented to museum Executive Director Lisa Hastreiter-Lamb and Board of Directors President Leilani Rothrock.
One reason for the new holiday, the proclamation says, is that “…the museum is probably the only one in the United States that solely features miniatures and in its 10 years of existence has served 350,000 visitors.” Another reason stipulated is that the museum has been considered a “treasure” of the community during its 10-year existence. The proclamation also mentions the museum’s community service efforts given through summer camps, workshops, classes, school tours and other community outreach.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors “encourages all Pima County residents to enjoy and support this museum, one of our area’s world-class attractions,” the proclamation concludes.
