Two Dead In Suspected Drunk Driving Crash

Two women were killed in the crash, police said.

TUCSON, AZ — Two women died Friday, March 6, in a suspected drunk driving crash at S. Country Club Road and I-10 in Tucson.

According to a statement from Tucson Police, officers from Operations Division South and Tucson Fire Department were sent to the scene of the crash just after 10 p.m.

When first responders arrived, two injured women were found outside of a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Tarashia Ross, 38, and Teresita Gonzales, 29, were both pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said an investigation into the crash found the vehicle the women were riding in was driving too fast on southbound Country Club Road, and when the car entered the I-10 underpass, the driver lost control and hit a concrete pillar.

Neither person was wearing a seatbelt and both were ejected from the car.

Police said several empty beer bottles and one half-empty beer bottle were found in the Tahoe. Medical records will determine for certain if the women had been drinking.

The crash marked Tucson's 13th deadly crash for 2020. On Saturday, the 14th deadly crash occurred. One pedestrian was killed Saturday, March 7, when struck by a Nissan Juke in the 1500 block of East Benson Highway.
