Video: Large Pack of Javelinas Takes A Tour Inside Tucson Shed
A Neighbors app video caught a large pack of javelinas taking a tour inside a Tucson shed.

TUCSON, AZ — Did you know javelinas will enter an outdoor structure built by humans? Apparently that is the case, as caught on this Neighbors app video. Cameras caught most members of a large Tucson-neighborhood pack of javelinas playing "follow the leader" as they enter an open shed to investigate what's inside.
One javelina pauses before leaving, taking a thorough sniff of what appears to be large piece of cardboard propped against the wall. Did it like what it smelled?

While there's no way to answer that question, the question of whether javelinas are really desert pigs is one that can be answered. Javelinas aren't really desert pigs. Instead, they are classified as members of the "peccary" hoofed-mammal family originally from South America, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
Javelinas might enter neighborhoods such as the one shown in the video looking for food such as succulent plants or other vegetation, or birds or mice. Or they might be searching for water sources like pools or hoses.
