Watch Tucson Fire Battle Fourth-Alarm At Recycling Plant (VIDEO)
One firefighter needed medical attention fighting the fire, which drew crews from Tucson Fire and the Northwest Fire District.
TUCSON, AZ – A fire at a recycling center on the west side of town went to four alarms on Monday afternoon. Crews from Tucson Fire and the Northwest Fire District were needed to bring the fire on the north side of town under control.
The fire – at Friedman Waste Control Systems by West Prince Road and Interstate 10 – was fueled by cardboard and other recyclables and a strong wind.
There was one report of a firefighter being treated but the severity of his injury has not yet been disclosed.

The investigation into what caused the fire is under way. Investigators are looking into whether a defective battery mixed in with paper could have ignited the fire.
