Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:

  1. An audit by the Yuma City Council has uncovered that $20,000 is somehow missing. The discovery comes amid the decision to approve the $413 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The Yuma Police Department is investigating how $20,000 went missing from the city's funds. The Acting City Administrator Jay Simonton believes that the missing money is simply an error in the records. (KYMA)
  2. The Yuma area will finally get some weather relief going into the weekend. Temperatures will finally be near the seasonal average as temperatures continue to drop. The relief will not last long however, triple-digit temperatures are expected at the beginning of next week. (Weather.com)
  3. Due to rising gas prices, some travelers prefer gassing up vehicles in Yuma compared to their hometowns. The dramatic rise in gas prices has been attributed to pandemic supply chain struggles, the war in Ukraine, and government policy. The United States House of Representatives has recently voted to investigate recent price gouging at gas pumps around the country. According to GasBuddy, Yuma residents can currently find gas for around $4.39 per gallon. (KYMA)
