Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:
- Yuma is expected to experience 106-degree weather this week. The extreme temperatures are due to a heatwave sweeping through the South. The heatwave is expected to begin dissipating on Tuesday. (Fox 7 News)
- The United States military is testing new high-powered microwave systems at Yuma Proving Ground. The system is meant to counter dangerous drone swarms that are becoming a bigger threat. The Pentagon's Joint Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office lead the demonstration. (Wonderful Engineering)
- The City of Yuma will be celebrating National Public Works Week starting on Monday. The city will be holding a community outreach open house on May 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to discuss public services. On Thursday, the city will be unveiling a new welcome sign created through a city-study collaboration. (City of Yuma)
