Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:

  1. Arizona Public Service is working with community organizations in Yuma County to help with improving homes' energy efficiency. The improvements are part of the organization's heat-relief initiative. The work includes emergency repairs and air conditioning replacements. (AZ Family)
  2. The Yuma County Sheriff's Office will be unveiling a new Rapid DNA Matching System. The department is working with the Arizona Department of Public Safety to operate the new system, which is the first in the state. The system will be able to generate DNA profiles in as little as 90 minutes. (KYMA)
  3. The Environmental Protection Agency has reversed its finding that Yuma County was meeting Regan-era dust standards. The decision will now force state regulators to devise a new plan meant to address the air quality issue. Yuma residents will now be waiting 18 months for Arizona to create the new cleanup plan.
