Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:
- A new veterans' home in Yuma is helping Arizona become one of the best states for aging veterans to call home. The veterans' home will provide skilled rehabilitative and general nursing care for honorably discharged veterans needing nursing care. The center will also allow dependents and surviving spouses to reside with the veterans. (Fabulous Arizona)
- The Yuma County Democratic Party took to the streets on Saturday, knocking on doors. The volunteers canvassed neighbors to remind residents of upcoming elections and to gather signatures for petitions. Officials, such as Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, spoke with the volunteers before they began knocking on doors. (KYMA)
- Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has proclaimed May as Military Appreciation Month. The proclamation is meant to honor the sacrifices and dedication of the United States military personnel. The state is currently attempting to double the number of veterans it employs. The state hosts many military installations, including the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. (Prescott eNews)
