Arkansas House Approves Bill To Increase Vehicle Registration Deadline From 30 To 60 Days
It is expected to cost the state $100,000 to implement the change, the report states.

The Arkansas House of Representatives on Tuesday voted to double the amount of time Arkansans have to register new vehicles.

House Bill 1150 by Rep. Fran Cavenaugh (R-Walnut Ridge) would increase the period residents have to register newly purchased vehicles from 30 to 60 days.
It would also lengthen the deadline for new residents to switch their vehicle registrations after moving to the Natural State from 30 to 60 days.

The House in 2021 passed a similar bill, but it stalled in the Senate.
“This bill allows citizens to have 30 extra days to register their vehicles,” Cavenaugh said on the House floor.
An Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration study of the bill estimates it will cost the state $100,000 to update its software and train its employees to implement the change.
The bill passed the House 94-2, and it now awaits action in the Senate.
