• U.S. National Historic Site Flagged After Changing A Map Text To "Gulf Of America" (thetravel.com) — A controversial map change at Fort Smith National Historic Site now labels the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America,” following a Trump-era executive order, and the site has not publicly commented. In response, the Data Rescue Project is urging visitors, including those in Fort Smith, to photograph park signs across Arkansas to preserve historical information they fear could be removed or altered.
   

• Theresa Boekholder, 87, Mountain Home (Roller) (ktlo.com) — A longtime nurse and devoted volunteer who was born and married in Fort Smith, Theresa Boekholder has passed away at age 87 in Mountain Home. Family and friends can attend her Funeral Mass on Monday, December 29, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, with burial and a luncheon to follow.
