• Rhinovirus circulating among children in Texarkana (texarkanagazette.com) — Parents in Texarkana are being warned that rhinovirus and other common respiratory bugs are currently circulating among local children, especially preschoolers. A local emergency physician reports seeing many kids with cold-like symptoms and urges families to rely on basics like handwashing, covering coughs, and staying home when sick to slow the spread.
   

• Harvest Texarkana hosted second city-wide food distribution event for holidays (ktbs.com) — Families in Texarkana on both the Arkansas and Texas sides received free holiday food boxes this week from Harvest Texarkana’s second city-wide drive-through distribution. Volunteers braved drizzle to hand out shelf-stable items and fresh produce at four local church and fairground sites, with any leftover boxes headed to area pantries so more neighbors can enjoy a Christmas meal.
   

• Arkansas woman sentenced to federal prison for East Texas drug trafficking violation (txktoday.com) — A woman from Texarkana has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison after officers in Texarkana, Texas found more than 100 grams of methamphetamine in her vehicle during a 2023 traffic stop. Federal and state agencies, including Texarkana, Texas Police, investigated the case as part of a broader anti-drug initiative.
