Here's Where To Get Free Supplies In The IE Before The School Year Starts

School is nearly back in session, and several organizations are hosting giveaways to help families get the supplies they need.

BANNING, CA — Free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts; those are just some of the many items organizations are giving away to help families get ready for the start of the school year. Below is a list of free events around the Inland Empire that will be participating in these giveaways.

  • Young Visionaries Back To School Backpack Giveaway — This event will be held on Friday, Aug.1, from 9 a.m. to noon at 604 W. Fourth St. in San Bernardino. Backpacks filled with essential school supplies will be given out, and it is open to K-12 students. Register here.
  • Back to School Community Event — This event will have giveaways, activities and freebies from brands such as Vans and Old Navy. There will also be ice cream, haircuts, braiders and facepainting. The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Red Hill Park in Rancho Cucamonga (7484 Vineyard Ave.). Secure a spot here.
  • 6th Annual Backpack Drive — This giveway will have free backpacks filled with school supplies and information on how to access health resources. There will be free food for the first 150 people, free items from Amazon and interactive activities. Each child must have their own ticket. The event will take place Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rialto Middle School (1262 West Rialto Ave.). Get a ticket here.
  • Back-To-School Celebration — More than 250 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given out at the 7th Annual Truth & Triumph's Back-To-School Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 9. The event will occur from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 721 Nevada Street in Redlands (Suite 408). Aside from the backpacks, there will be free tablet giveaways, gift cards, contests, prize drawings and games. School supplies will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.
