Get Your Money: Californians Owed In Major Price Gouging Cases, Electric Rebate

Price-fixing and gouging cases against gas companies and grocery chains, along with a utility rebate, will put cash in Californians pockets.

CALIFORNIA — Millions of Californians have cash infusions coming their way as part of utility rebates and two price gouging and overcharging cases announced by officials this week.

The state's climate credit program — an emissions-reduction effort that distributes rebates to electric and gas ratepayers — is due and may be worth as much as $174 per customer.

As part of a gas price-fixing settlement announced by the state attorney general Wednesday, drivers who bought gas in several California counties may be eligible for payments.

And judgment was issued against Vons, Albertsons and Safeway in a false advertisement and overcharging case brought by prosecutors statewide accusing Vons, Albertsons and Safeway. The chains' owners will pay millions and offer a price accuracy cashback guarantee to customers.
