While Battling Ferguson Fire, Man Loses House In Carr Fire

Jason Campbell and his family was of many people to lose their home in the Shasta County blaze.

SHASTA COUNTY, CA -- While helping crews battle the Ferguson Fire in Mariposa County this week, Jason Campbell lost his home in the Shasta County blaze. In a GoFundMe created for his family, loved ones wrote Campbell was sent to battle the blaze near Yosemite National Park as a hand crew member GFP Enterprises.

While Campbell was battling the massive blaze, another fire, the Carr Fire burned across Shasta County, destroying 500 structures, including that belonging to him and his family, the GoFundMe page said.

"While leading a 20 person handcrew engaged in fighting the Ferguson Fire burning near Ahwanhnee, CA, Jason's wife Shyla and children were safely evacuated along with over 10,000 area residents," the GoFundMe page said.

Loved ones wrote Campbell returned to his home to find it destroyed.

" I know it is tearing Jason up inside that he was so far away performing the job he loves, unable to protect his own family and save his own property," the GoFundMe page said.

Loved ones hope to raise $10,000 to help the family recover. As of Saturday morning, the fundraiser received more than 7,000 in donations.
