BAKERSFIELD, CA — A woman with no flying experience was recently forced to land a plane after her husband, the pilot, had a heart attack mid-flight, according to reports.
Yvonne Kinane-Wells was able to land the aircraft safely, according to Inside Edition, which reported her husband suffered a heart attack. He later died, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which identified the man as real estate broker Eliot Alper and noted the couple married in February.
The husband and wife left Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas on Friday and were bound for Monterey Regional Airport in a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 90 when the pilot fell ill, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The aircraft landed around 1:40 p.m. at Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield, the agency said.
