• Man Shot in Leg During Dispute Over Sale in Adelanto, Suspect Remains at Large (vvng.com) — A man was shot in the leg Friday afternoon during a dispute over a sale on the 11400 block of Sage Street in Adelanto, and the gunman is still on the loose. Deputies say the victim met the suspect for a transaction when an argument escalated into gunfire, and investigators at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station are asking anyone with information to come forward.

• ICE detains Indian American ‘Bubbly' Kaur during green card appointment (americanbazaaronline.com) — A Long Beach family says their 60-year-old mother is now being held at the Adelanto ICE detention facility after she was unexpectedly detained during a green card biometrics appointment. Relatives and a local congressman are pressing for her release, describing difficult conditions inside Adelanto and the emotional toll of limited, brief visits while her immigration case continues.
• California bishops celebrate ‘very powerful' Mass for detainees in ICE facility (americamagazine.org) — Catholic bishops recently celebrated Mass with hundreds of immigration detainees at the ICE Processing Center near Adelanto, then spoke at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church about humane treatment and immigration reform. Their visit focused on offering spiritual support, highlighting detainees’ dignity, and urging federal lawmakers to fix what they called a broken immigration system.
