101 Freeway Closures For Wildlife Crossing Postponed

Friday and Saturday's planned freeway closures related to the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing were postponed.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — Freeway closures scheduled on Friday and Saturday for the much anticipated Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing were postponed, the city of Agoura Hills announced Friday morning.

Multiple Ventura (101) Freeway ramps were scheduled to shut from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday including the northbound Liberty Canyon onramp and southbound Liberty Canyon offramp. The construction was postponed, the city announced around 10 a.m. Friday. It was not immediately clear why the closures were postponed or when they would occur.

One northbound lane and one southbound lane were expected to close at 8 p.m. Friday near Liberty Canyon Road, and two lanes in each direction would close at 10 p.m. Three lanes in each direction were scheduled close around 11:59 p.m. Friday. The closures would never extend to the full freeway, according to the California Department of Transportation.

All lanes were expected to reopen by 8 a.m. Saturday. To stay up to date on road closures, visit CalTrans' online map.

The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is expected to be finished in 2025. The crossing aims to protect Southern California wildlife by preserving genetic diversity and offering safe passage to other wildlife populations.
