101 Freeway Closures Moved To Thursday For Wildlife Crossing

AGOURA HILLS, CA — Agoura Hills will see freeway closures starting Thursday for the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.

Early construction on the massive project will prompt the following closures:

  • 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Thursday: northbound 101 Freeway Liberty Canyon on-ramp and southbound 101 Freeway Liberty Canyon off-ramp closed. This closure was originally expected to begin Wednesday, but was pushed to Thursday.
  • 8 p.m. - 6 a.m., Friday & Monday - Aug. 26: One lane in either direction on 101 Freeway closed. Increased to two lanes at 10 p.m. Potentially increased to three lanes in either direction at 11:59 p.m.
  • 7 p.m. - 6 a.m., Monday - Aug. 26: northbound 101 Freeway Liberty Canyon on-ramp and southbound 101 Freeway Liberty Canyon off-ramp closed.

To stay up to date on road closures, visit CalTrans' online map. Detours will be available for full on- and off-ramp closures, according to CalTrans.

This week's delays were originally scheduled for early July but postponed. The closures were also expected to start Wednesday, but were moved to begin Thursday, according to the city of Calabasas.

The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is expected to be finished in 2025. The crossing aims to protect Southern California wildlife by preserving genetic diversity and offering safe passage to other wildlife populations.
