AGOURA HILLS, CA — Lane closures during the night on Highway 101 to continue work on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing were delayed until sometime in early September, Caltrans said.

Crews originally planned to remove a temporary structure in the median on the highway on Aug. 28 to 30. However, officials announced that the removal would happen at a later date.

Planned construction includes removal of the falsework, constructing the bridge wall next to northbound lanes and constructing the slope adjacent to southbound lanes. During construction, traffic would be reduced to one to two lanes during the night time, Caltrans said.

The dates of the rescheduled closures have not been announced yet and officials advised travelers to stay tuned to QuickMap.dot.ca.gov to see any schedule changes.

The $100 million-plus project broke ground last year and is set to be completed in 2025. When it's finished, a grass-covered bridge standing 210-feet long and 170-feet wide will sit over the Liberty Canyon Road freeway exit, offering mountain lions safer passage across the Santa Monica Mountains.
