Macy's Closing Simi Valley Store as Part of Company's Restructuring

SIMI VALLEY, CA -- Macy's announced Wednesday that it will close its Simi Valley store by year end to shore up its finances, according to a company press release

The Simi Valley location is 68 of 730 stores across the country getting the ax. Macy's said it will reinvest in its e-commerce and give a smaller number of stores a better customer experience.

About 105 associates will be affected by the Simi Valley Town Center location's closure. The store sells men’s and kids clothings, and home furnishings. It was opened in 2006.

These stores are part of the 100 closings it announced in August. When that announcement was made, the specific stores that were closing were not named.

Associates at shuttered stores may have the option to transfer to nearby locations that remain open, the release said, and some full- and part-time associates will be offered severance packages.
