No Charges Against 'Stalker' of Charlize Theron

No evidence the Chicago man was threatening or intentionally trying to put her in fear. Told to leave, he made no attempt to enter property.

Prosecutors declined today to file charges against an Illinois man who was arrested for allegedly stalking actress Charlize Theron, saying there is no evidence he was threatening her or intentionally trying to put her in fear.

Stanislav Sonseadec, 54, was arrested around 7:40 p.m. Sunday after taking flowers to Theron’s Hollywood Hills home and ringing the intercom bell for about half an hour, police said.

According to a charge evaluation worksheet prepared by the District Attorney’s Office, Sonseadec rang the intercom, but Theron told him to leave the flowers by the gate. Sonseadec rang the bell two more times, and she told him to leave or she would call the police.

Theron believed he left, but when her assistant arrived, Sonseadec was still outside the home and tried to give the flowers to the assistant, Deputy District Attorney Wendy Segall wrote in the worksheet. The assistant told him to leave then drove through the gate onto the property, but Sonseadec “did not attempt to enter.”

“The suspect did not leave and was arrested,” Segall wrote. “Although the victim was in fear for her safety -- she has had stalkers in the past -- there was no credible threat nor was there any evidence that the suspect intended to place her in fear for her safety.”

Sonseadec had recently bought a vehicle in Chicago and drove to Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles police Officer Matthew Ludwig.

He told a detective who arrived at the scene that he loved the Oscar- winning actress known for such films as “Monster” and the recent “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Sonseadec was released from custody on Monday after posting $150,000 bail, according to sheriff’s online jail records.
