The Board of Education is meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Las Virgenes Unified School District headquarters in Calabasas.
Among tonight's items to be discussed is a new student wellness policy.
Due to a new federal regulation, the district is required to update its policy on student wellness. Over the past six months, Waleska Cannon, the director of child nutrition, convened a wellness committee, comprised of parents, students, administrators, board members, health professionals and members of the community, to review policies and administrative regulations.
The new policy includes goals for nutrition education, physical activity and school-based activities that promote wellness.
