Teen Shot By Armed Robbers In Region's 2nd Robbery Shooting This Month

It's the second time in the area this month that robbers approached a victim on a street in the northwest San Fernando Valley and shot him.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A teenager was shot by armed robbers in the Winnetka area Sunday when he refused to empty his pockets. It was the second time in about two weeks that armed robbers shot a random victim in the northwest San Fernando Valley. No arrests have been made in either case.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a 16-year-old boy was walking in the 8200 block of Mason Ave shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday when he passed four men who appeared to be between the ages of 18 and 19 years old.

They told the teen to empty his pockets, and when the boy refused, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot him, according to the LAPD.

The men fled the scene in a vehicle, and the teen was rushed to a hospital by paramedics in unknown condition.

A similar incident occurred two weeks ago in the Northridge area.

A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times while fleeing an armed robber in Northridge Oct. 13.

The robbery occurred just after 11 p.m. in the 8600 block of Balboa Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Responding officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Investigators learned the victim had been approached on foot by a robber, who demanded money. The victim tried to run away, and that is when the robber opened fire on him, according to the LAPD.

Police did not release a suspect description.
