Food Bank Needs Short-Term Volunteers During the Holidays

The Alameda Food Bank is looking for people who can work at least one four-hour shift between Nov. 1 and Dec. 30.

The Alameda Food Bank needs short-term volunteers to help receive and distribute food during the holidays.

Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one four-hour shift between Nov. 1 and Dec. 30.

If you are interested, contact Samantha, the food bank's program manager, at (510) 523-5850 or volunteer@alamedafoodbank.org.

Each year in November and December the Alameda Food Bank distributes turkeys, hams and bags of special holiday food items to its clients, relying upon the generosity of local residents and businesses for their donations.

In 2012, nearly 1 in 13 Alameda households receive assistance from the food bank.
