2 Trafficked Minors Rescued In East Bay : Police

Both minors were rescued on Monday, Dec. 15, during an investigation along International Boulevard in Oakland, police said.

OAKLAND, CA — Police say they rescued two minors earlier this month in Oakland who were being trafficked.

Officers with the Oakland Police Department's Vice and Child Exploitation Unit were conducting a targeted human trafficking operation along International Boulevard on Monday, Dec. 15, when they found the minors.

It's unclear how old the minors are or how long they were being trafficked for. Oakland police said one of the minors was local to Oakland, while the other was from Portland.

The minors were both connected with the "appropriate services" after they were identified as victims of human trafficking, police said. Police did not say what those services look like.

"This operation is part of an ongoing, coordinated initiative aimed at addressing and combating human trafficking in our city," the department said in a statement on Facebook Monday morning.
