Alameda To Appoint Yet Another New Interim City Manager
Nancy Bronstein is expected to be appointed during the Sept. 6 regular city council meeting.
ALAMEDA, CA — During a special closed session meeting of Alameda City Council, Tuesday, Aug. 9, council unanimously directed staff to place the appointment of Nancy Bronstein to be interim city manager on the council’s Sept. 6 meeting agenda, it was announced today.
Bronstein, who is currently the acting city manager and human resources director, will replace
Dirk Brazil who council appointed to be interim city manager in May 2022.

Brazil is stepping down due to a family emergency, the Aug. 16 news release said.
According to the news release, Brazil appointed Bronstein and Public Works Director Erin Smith to be acting co-city managers, pending council’s appointment of an interim city manager.

Bronstein, who was promoted to human resources director in January 2016, also served as acting finance director from March to September 2020 and will now oversee city operations while council moves forward with hiring a permanent city manager.
