Dec 3, 2024 - Alameda, CA -- Stifling defense once again was the difference for the Hornets, as Alameda raced to a first quarter 17-5 lead against the Miramonte Matadors. Alameda tallied 24 steals enroute to a 56-28 victory at the Alameda Gym. Juliana Johnson had 5 steals, as well as leading all scorers with 21 points. She hit an opening three after a nice drive and kick from Desi Shoblo (5 points, 3 assists, 4 steals), after Marissa Allen (8 points, 6 rebounds) won the opening tip. Johnson then stole the ball on the next play and fed the streaking Allen for the layup, as Alameda's swarming press caused chaos for their opponent in the early going and throughout the game.

Alameda went cold in the second quarter, managing only 6 points, for a halftime scoreline of 23-11. However, the Hornets were on target in the second half and pulled away for a comfortable win in the end.

Next up for Alameda is a home game versus the Amador Valley Dons of Pleasanton on Wednesday, November 11 at 7pm. The Junior Varsity game is scheduled for 5:30pm. Tickets can be found at gofan.co, $9 for adults and $6 for students.
