An Amtrak train struck a vehicle on the tracks in East Oakland today (Wednesday), an Amtrak spokeswoman said.
Capitol Corridor train No. 533 was heading from Sacramento to San Jose when it struck the vehicle at 37th Avenue around 11:20 a.m., spokeswoman Vernae Graham said.
There were no injuries reported to the 85 passengers onboard the train, Graham said.
The train struck the front of a station wagon near 37th Avenue and E. Ninth St., but the two occupants of the vehicle were not injured, according to an Oakland Tribune report.
The passengers were held on the train until they were picked up by the next train around 12:30 p.m., Graham said.
Passengers were moved onto train No. 535 that would continue onto San Jose, Graham said.
The train behind the incident was delayed about an hour, Graham said.
