It's Not Too Late To Run For A Seat On Alameda City Council
The extension applies to candidates for Alameda City Council only.
ALAMEDA, CA —The filing period for non-incumbents, individuals not currently holding office, for the office of Councilmember in the city of Alameda has been extended to Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, the city announced last week.
“The filing period has been extended beyond the initial deadline because an incumbent eligible to serve another term has not filed nomination papers,” the city explained in an Aug. 11, news release. “The filing extension only applies to the office of city councilmember and does not apply to the office of Mayor.”
To run for office, candidates must be a registered voter in the city of Alameda for at least 30 days prior to filing nomination papers and remain a registered voter at the time of filing, the city said.
